Light and Dark 1 year anniversary art contest!!!

I might (might) have been hinting at this for a bit but it’s here!

In a month's time give or take will be the one Year anniversary of the day I published the first ever chapter of Light and Dark over and Tapastic which from here on out I’ll consider this neato comic’s birthday. So to celebrate this wild ride and as a big BIG thank you to the all of the fans, watchers, and followers we’ve gotten over this first year I figured we could do something fun…

AN ART CONTEST.

Wait hold up don’t go! Because this is an art contest with PRIZES.

Yes you heard me. For your participation in this here art contest you’ll be in the running to get some serious cash/dosh/mula/dinero (or points for the DA crowd). So what do YOU have to do to claim this for yourself???

It’s pretty straightforward actually. All you artists around here have to do is draw the cast of LnD characters we’ve presented over the past year! Confused? Need references? You can see all of them HERE for reference, looking through the comic, or asking me personally if you need any help with that. All these characters, those shown in the comic already or otherwise are up for grabs!

Buuuut I do have to establish some rules first:

RULES:

1) This has to be your own original work. No bases, tracing, or anything of that sort!

2) Can be digital or traditional. I don’t mind either way!

3) No need to be a watcher/follower. I’d appreciate it greatly but won’t force you!

4) One entry per person.

5) Keep it at the borderline PG-13/R rating. All subjective but might impact your chance of winning

6) Stick to the original designs as best you can unless you have a really good idea. I’ll show some leniency but don’t go overboard!

7) I will discourage but not disallow more than 4+ of the same character.

8) At bare minimum have these drawings lined with flat coloring.

Who/how are these being judged??:

Me (subject to change) for the most part! I will be judging based on quality. I adore different styles of art and won’t take off points based on that so long as it is of good quality. That’s how you win, quality! The more attention and detail you add to your entry the better! Add a background, do some shading, it will increase your chances of winning! Above all else, attempt to show off the personality of these characters as best you can. Need help? Ask!

Now the prizes:

3rd Place: Local ruffian

$20 Dollars or equivalent in DA points

2nd Place: Regum Agent

$35 Dollars or equivalent in DA points

1st Place: Mayor of New Hadden

A WHOPPING $55 dollars or equiv- you get the idea

At certain participant thresholds I’ll be adding in additional prizes! The more entries the more of these tiers will be unlocked!

Tier 1: +5 Entries

A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner will be crowned. If not enough participants are reached the winners will still be rewarded in some way.

Tier 2: [LOCKED] +10 Entries

Tier 3: [LOCKED] +15 Entries

Tier 4: [LOCKED] +20 Entries

Tier 5: [HOLY BALLS ARE YOU SERIOUS??] +40 Entries

On top of that for each participant I humbly request to feature your art in this comic at the end of every chapter as a sort of end card. You can refuse of course but it will include a link back to the art site profile of your choice if you would like!

How do I submit??
First, leave a comment below so I know who's participating.
DA: Feel free to submit your work to your personal gallery or sta.sh. Send me a note and let me know when your all set and done!
Tumblr: Feel free to post your work or post it to imgur, etc. Just send me a personal message when your set and done!
